Regarding remarks made by UK, US and EU toward recent trials in Vietnam

Print

January 23, 2010 - Human Rights

In response to question from the media concerning remarks made by representatives of the UK, the US and the EU toward the recent trials of Vietnamese law violators, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga on January 22nd, 2010 said:

Vietnam is a country under the rule of law. Vietnam handles acts that violate the law and undermine the national security to protect the rule of law and safeguard the common society interests of peace, stability and development.

The legal proceedings of detention, investigation, trial and conviction have been conducted on the guilty offenders, in according with Vietnamese law, completely in line with international law.

Regrettably, representatives of the UK, the US and the EU have had some remarks on this issue that are short of goodwill, interfering in the Vietnamese internal affairs.
